A New Zealand native with a love of the natural elements that come together to create beautiful and durable objects. Jules graduated from the New England School of Architectural Woodworking in 2008 with a concentration in cabinet making. Infused with an architectural sensibility, her furniture combines clean modern lines with a rich residue of history.
Jules most recent body of work consists of a series of one-of-a-kind pieces hewn from vintage hemlock framing and cladding salvaged from the renovation of her 160 year old home. The worn, natural state of the wood is her inspiration. She leaves all holes and scarring intact. The wood patina, its tactile qualities are a large part of what makes each piece unique.
You can see her work at FINCH and at Zak Pelaccio’s new Fish & Game restaurant in Hudson. Also make a visit to Food Studio on Warren Street for a perfect example of the natural play of light and structure in her design and execution of the restaurant furniture. Truly inspired.
Jules works from her Hudson NY studio and can be spotted on her motorbike at odd hours.
